Our idea

The right hotel isn't the most expensive one. It's the one in the right neighbourhood, booked at the right moment, at a price that feels fair.

How we help

Habits that cut the price of any stay

01

Pick the area first

The neighbourhood shapes your whole trip - and the price. Our guides compare each area honestly, so you pay for a location you will actually use.

02

Book at the right moment

Prices move with seasons, events and weekdays. A free-cancellation rate lets you lock a fair price, then rebook if it drops.

03

Check the total, not the headline

Resort fees, city taxes and breakfast can add a lot to the bill. We show you where the extras hide before you press book.

Before you book

The 7-step booking checklist

Run through this before you press "book". It takes five minutes and catches most of the expensive surprises.

  1. Pin down the area first. Decide which neighbourhood suits your trip before you look at hotels. A cheaper room far from everything often costs more once you add taxis and time.
  2. Compare, then check direct. Use a comparison site to see the market, then look at the hotel's own website - member rates and small perks are common.
  3. Read the total price. Look for taxes, city or tourist levies, resort fees and breakfast before you compare. The headline rate is rarely the final one.
  4. Prefer free cancellation. A flexible rate lets you rebook if the price drops or your plans change. Note the exact deadline.
  5. Read recent reviews. Focus on the last few months and on travellers like you - families, couples or business guests.
  6. Check the room, not just the hotel. Room size, bed set-up, views and noise vary a lot inside one building. Ask if you are unsure.
  7. Keep the confirmation handy. Save the booking email offline, and check what ID and payment card you need at check-in.
