Barcelona is one of the largest cities in Europe, a popular destination for holiday makers looking to spend a few days relaxing and this city has hosted the Olympic Games in the past.
There are so many great things to see and do while visiting this amazing city. Here is a short guide to some of the fantastic places that should not be missed.
Take a ride on one of the cable cars
Taking a cable car ride is one of the best ways to see the city. The views are absolutely amazing from three hundred and fifty meters above sea level. Choose between the Transbordador and the Barcelona Montjuic Park cable car services. Rides will cost you around thirteen Euros for a return ticket and about nine Euros for a single. The views from the cable cars are great, but you may want to avoid making use of them if you are scared of heights.
This is more than likely the most famous street in the whole of Barcelona. With over one kilometer of shops, bars, restaurants, artists, mimes and many other entertainers, this place is a tourist’s shopping heaven. You should be on the lookout for people who appear to be overly friendly, as they may be con artists trying to take advantage of the fact that you are not familiar with the surroundings. Be aware of what is going on around you – you do not want to end up being pick pocketed.
Visiting the Barcelona Zoo is a great way for the entire family to spend the day. There are thousands of creatures living within the walls of the zoo. Gorillas, penguins, hippos and many other species can be seen here. Tickets cost around sixteen Euros for adults and just under ten for children under the age of twelve.
The Picasso Museum is definitely one of the most popular museums in Barcelona. Opened in nineteen sixty three, this is the home of over three thousand, eight hundred pieces done by the artist we all know as Pablo Picasso. There are a number of annual exhibitions that take place, where you can view some of the local artist’s works of art and there are guided tours through the various galleries, where you can learn more about the history of the artists.

Take a walk through the eighty meter long underwater walkway and get a much closer look at the beautifull marine life here.
