Money
Don’t leave for the airport without ensuring that you have your wallet, credit cards and any money that you have already exchanged. A day or two before you travel, call your bank and just let them know that you will be going abroad. If you don’t let the bank know, they may think your card has been stolen and end up freezing your account as a precaution. When you’re in a foreign country with a blocked bank card and limited phone access, this can cause problems and even ruin your holiday.
If your wallet is lost or stolen whilst you are on holiday, it is important that you get in contact with your bank as soon as possible. If you have lost all money that you have, it is a good idea to contact the British Embassy who will be able to help.
Travel documents and visa
A passport and visa (if required) are two of the most vital travel items for any trip. Despite that fact that you are unable to leave the country without them, you would be surprised at the amount of people who fail to pack them. Pack all travel documents in your hand luggage in a sealable file. Before heading to the airport, ensure that you double check that all necessary documents are packed and in order.
It is always a good idea to check over passports two weeks before you travel. Check that each passport is still valid, as well as unmarked and undamaged. If you notice that your passport is no longer valid or has been damaged, don’t panic. The first thing to do is contact the passport office for advice. Driver’s license
If you are planning to rent a car whilst on holiday, it is important to take your driver’s license with you. Most reputable rental car companies will not rent out cars to drivers who are unable to present a valid driver’s license. You may also be required to take other documents with you to allow you to rent a foreign vehicle. Ensure you check with the company when booking, what documents they require.

First Aid Kit
Pack a small bag or tin of essential medical items, such as pain killers and prescription drugs. Whilst it is easy to buy medicines from the pharmacist in the UK, the country you are travelling to may have different laws. You don’t want to be stuck in a foreign country feeling unwell with no access to medication, so make sure you pack everything that you might need.

Toiletries
Whilst most hotels and holiday complexes provide some toiletries, it is always a good idea to take your own with you. Especially if you suffer from skin conditions or allergies. If you do forget your toiletries it isn’t the end of the world, but you may end up paying high prices for everyday products.
Suitable clothing
Before you pack for your holiday do some research on the local customs and culture. The last thing you want to do is offend the locals with how you dress, always be respectful of the country’s laws and dress code. In some countries wearing the wrong skirt can get you arrested, so ensure that you do your research properly before you go.
