Things to do in London

England’s famous capital city is full of sightseeing highlights meaning when you visit there you’ll have plenty to see and do. Check out our guide to some of the best things to do that London has to offer.

Getting to London

As England’s capital there are several airports servicing the area (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City Airport) making it easy to get to, and you can save money cheap flights to London by looking online for the best deal.

Visit Buckingham Palace

The Queen might not be in, but the famous palace guards are there. See the palace in all its splendour first hand, and if you get there at the right time, you can even watch the change of the guard in the Forecourt just inside the gates. The change happens at 11.30am during the summer, and every other day during the winter.

Shop in Oxford Street

One of the most famous places to shop in London, Oxford Street is famed for its mixture of high street and designer brand shops. You could stay inside your hotel room with a game on partycasino.com, or you could visit Selfridges department store or meander between the shops. At Christmas time the street is particularly popular and picturesque with its beautiful lights.

Go to a museum

The Natural History Museum, the Imperial War Museum, the British Museum, the Science Museum, National Portrait Gallery, the Museum of London: there are so many to choose from. If I was to recommend any of the listed museums, if you had limited time I would suggest you go to the Natural History Museum (the dinosaur section is particularly impressive), or the Imperial War Museum, which has one of the most heartbreaking and informative exhibitions for the Holocaust in the world.

Go to the theatre

The West End of London is famed for putting on fabulous shows all year round, attracting actors and audiences from all over the world. Some are more popular than others so you might have issues getting tickets for certain shows, but last minute tickets are available. From musicals like Wicked, Billy Elliot, Les Miserables, Blood Brothers and Chicago, to plays like The Woman in Black and Shakespeare’s plays which take place at the famed Globe Theatre, the list is varied and vast.

Visit the roads from a Monopoly Board

Some people like to spend the day playing real life Monopoly in London. Simply visit the streets which appear on the London Monopoly board in the order you would move around the board. The Tube will help you go from destination to destination: Mayfair to Leicester Square
