Seville city break guide

Seville is city that knows how to combine art, romance, and history, culture a large number of restaurants and bars, nightlife and nature. Step into the narrow streets, walk down the winding paths and discover the hidden plazas in between the historic architecture.

There are many things to see and do in this city. Follow the River Guadalquivir to avoid missing out on some of the fantastic attractions that Seville has to offer. The river flows through the middle of the city, which makes it the best place to be.

Flights to Seville (SVQ) take just under four hours from the UK, if you’re travelling from the north you can fly from Macnhester or Newcastle – just remember to book airport parking Manchester or Airport parking Newcastle before you travel  – if you book  in advance you’ll pay alot less than walk-up prices. Flights from Heathrow and Gatwick are available too; and take just over three and a half hours. You can book Gatwick Car parking online to ensure you’ve both more spending money whilst you’re away, and a car ready to take you home as soon as you land rather than having to wait for taxis or public transport.

Be sure to make time to visit all of the tourist attractions such as the barrio of Santa Cruz and the Reales Alcazares Palace. Lower down the river you will be able to see the bullfighting ring and the Torre del Oro (the tower of gold), which was constructed in the thirteen hundreds.

Visit the Seville Cathedral and marvel at the beauty of the gothic architecture. This Cathedral is one of the largest in the world and contains the tomb of the world famous Christopher Columbus.

The Reales Alcazares Palace is one of Europe’s oldest palaces. The King and Queen still stay there when they visit the city. The palace is open to the general public all year round, except of course when the Royal family is staying there. There are some amazingly beautiful gardens around the palace that you can explore at your leisure and some areas are perfect backdrops for great photographs.

It is very easy to get around Seville, with many busses, trams and trains operating all day long. If public transport is not your idea of fun, then simply hire a car to get around with. It is not too difficult to hire a car in Seville, just make sure that you take your license along with you. Another great way to see the city is to hire a bicycle. There are lanes on the roads that are dedicated to bicycle riders, which makes it very safe and an all together fun experience.

This little city has a number of great bars, restaurants and night time venues to choose from. The locals are a lively bunch of people and there is never a dull moment here. Make sure to be part of one of the many festivals held throughout the year.

Once you have seen all that the city has to offer, take a trip to the Donana National Park and discover some of the wildlife as you travel down the river on a boat. This is the perfect place to go to if you need a break from the busy city for a while.
