The romantic Loreley valley and the Hunsrück und Taunus mountains will set your pulse racing. You will quite simply be amazed at how beautiful the Rhine is. Magnificent castles line the horizon. Suits of armour and medieval cities will provide you with a first hand experience of history. White cherry blossom falls down from the cliffs in spring, lining paths and peaceful beauty spots. The summer is celebrated with festivals and music, boat trips and the ”Rhine in flames”, the yearly firework extravaganza. Clear autumnal days provide wonderful views of the changing colours of the glorious vines. Wine and Rhine both flow bathing the valley in their autumnal glow. And there is always plenty left over for quiet winter days, where our welcoming customs are in evidence in the warm reflections of our “Weinstuben” [wine bars] and our restaurants.
Just to the north of Saint Goar, the Hotel Landsknecht has an enchanting location on the bank of the River Rhine, just up from the famous Lorelei And just as the siren mesmerized sailors and drew them to her rocks, the stenciled façade of the Landsknecht will draw you to its door. There are only 15 guestrooms, most of them overlooking the river traffic, even if only from a side window. Of the top-floor rooms a special favorite is number 8, a small and intimate bedroom with arched windows framing the river. Down one floor, number 5 is definitely the most dramatic—this is an end room that juts out, affording views through windows on three sides of the constant stream of barges. On the floor below the restaurant all the guestrooms are identical, with attractive arched windows at the same level as the river, giving the impression of being on board a ship. On the entry level you find a charming restaurant decorated in pines, which has earned widespread recognition, and next to it a larger, more informal restaurant opening onto a terrace with a spectacular view of the river. Just off the entry, the Vinothek is a room set with one large oval table nestled into the edge of a bay window where you can taste and purchase wine and order food off the restaurant menu. This is a definitely a busy tourist hotel.

The days are open for your free amusement, in which case you should at any rate experience the round-trip ship excursion to Rüdesheim that is included in the price. Riding the river’s waves is certainly the most impressive way to experience the Rhine.

The Hotel Landsknecht is situated in the heart of the romantic Central Rhine Valley halfway between Koblenz and Bingen. Take the A61 (Köln-LU), exit Emmelshausen or Pfalzfeld to St. Goar and continue approx. 2 km towards Koblenz on the B9 (Mainz-Koblenz), which will lead you directly to us. There is plenty of free parking in front of the hotel.
