Mas Fontanelles is a 230-year-old farmhouse that was restored, refurbished and turned into a hotel in 2001 by the Spanish architect J. Joaquín Aracil Bellod.
The restoration project has maintained the building's original character, in particular its primitive structure of wooden beams, while adding all the comforts and amenities of a modern hotel.
The old, restored farmhouse is set within more than 6,000 m2 of grounds, the garden areas and shady centennial pines and cypress trees providing a pleasant area to rest and relax in.
In the afternoon, guests can take a nap in the sunshine in one of the hammocks.
A natural spring by the farmhouse offers passers-by cool drinking water.
Every area and corner has been designed to allow you to have a peaceful and relaxed break, surrounded by the sound of silence.
Isabel and Roberto, the hotel owners and hosts, welcome their guests in a spacious and sunny vestibule from which the restaurant as well as the gardens of Mas Fontanelles can be reached.

The house is located near downtown Biar, on kilometre 4 of the CV 804 local road from Biar to Bañeres.
Mas Fontanelles is set in a natural environment both well-communicated and easy to reach.
By road:
- 365 kms. from Madrid (3 hours by car) N-III. Exit: Villena - Biar
- 11 kms. from the Madrid-Alicante Highway N-III
- 40 kms. from Alicante (25 minutes by car) Highway A-36
- 100 kms. from Valencia (1 hour by car)
By plane:
- from Alicante International Airport: 50 kms (40 minutes by car).
- El Altet Airport (Alicante): Highway Alicante E-7 A-15.Take Exit : 71 towards National III Alicante-Madrid (Madrid direction). Take Exit: Villena-Biar. Follow-up the road until you get the Traffic Lights of the crossroad. Then turn to your right and follow-up this road which droves to Biar. In Biar, pass 3 Traffic Lights and turn to your left following the sign “Centro Urbano; Bañeres”: it is Maisonnave Street. Follow this street straight ahead and turn to your right where it says “carretera de Bañeres”. You will find us on kilometre 4, on your right, in a white house with blue window frames.
