Only 8 km far from the hurly-burly of the city of Chania, and 20 km from the Chania International airport and Souda ferry port, our hotel is located in the seaside resort of Stalos (between Chania and Ag. Marina-see the map of Crete).
Our two-floor hotel, built in 1985, was wisely renovated in 2002, preserving its Cretan traditional style combined with modern elements. The ground floor reception and lobby open towards a well-appointed breakfast area and a post-modern, elegantly furnished lounge with a discreet cafe-bar. The idyllic beauty of the front garden is the perfect setting for your afternoon tea or late drink.
The swimming pool is behind the hotel for your privacy and fun. The pool bar is the place where people meet people and where entertainment is happening.
Because our clientele is international, our breakfast area/lounge/cafe-bar/pool-bar staff speak English as well as Greek, and we in the reception area are fluent in English and French.

Alkion hotel is situated in Kato Stalos, Chania Prefecture, Crete, a quiet seaside resort, just across the street from the beach (see map of Kato Stalos). Even though the resort is small, there is plenty of action here. It all depends on you and your dream of a perfect holiday.
You can spend all day enjoying the sun and the fine sandy beach of Stalos, or you my want to take a walk along the beach to A. Marina.
You can go shopping at the mini markets in Stalos, or take the bus and go the Champion supermarket or to the city of Chania. Maria's Taverna is just next door, which is famous in the area for the high quality of food at reasonable prices, but there are so many other wonderful restaurants and tavernas in Stalos.
If you want to know the area, you may want to go hiking or go on a one-day trip anywhere in western Crete, including the famous Samaria Gorge.
If you are fond of history, the city of Chania bears some relics of the ancient Minoan culture and its well-known Venetian harbour is an attraction to all visitors and local people. Also, you may want to visit the History museum of Iraklion and the ancient Palace of Knossos on a day trip.

How to get here
Here is some useful information about how to get here. We are trying to make your journey comfortable enough to reach a destination that is worthwhile from all points of view.
The easiest way to get to Chania, Crete, is to book a flight directly into Chania airport (by transfer from Athens airport or direct charter flight). From the airport, you can take a taxi to Alkion Hotel, which costs about €20. On special request, we can meet you at the airport and take you to the Alkion Hotel, Stalos.
Another alternative is to book a flight into E. Venizelos International Airport of Athens. From Athens you have two options:
Take the ferry from Piraeus which will take you to Souda ferry port (4 km away from Chania). From Souda there are buses that will take you to Chania, or you could take a taxi to Kato Stalos. On special request, we can arrange to meet you at Souda ferry port and take you to our hotel.
Book a flight directly to Chania airport (see above).

Flights to and from Crete (domestic)
Within Greece , all flights are a short hop, so you might think there would be little to choose between airlines. Basically there are two airlines that you can use:

Olympic Airlines (formerly Olympic Airways)
Both airlines provide many flights from Athens to Chania, especially during the summer. Flights are very short; it takes about 50 minutes to fly from Athens to Chania.
