Our 4**** star hotel Molino del Arco is located just 8 kilometres from Ronda, in the mountainous area of the same name in the Spanish province of Malaga.
The original building, an old farmhouse constructed in the first trimester of the XVIII century, consisted of four patios, an olive oil mill, various living quarters and other typical dependencies of agricultural life such as a hay barn, carriage storage, butchers´ kitchen, stables, etc.
All these facilities have been converted into a magnificent hotel with 15 bedrooms, combining all modern comforts with the enchantment of an old farm house surrounded by wonderful landscapes.
From the windows one can observe the olive groves, fields of wheat and fruit trees that cover the 60 hectares of farm land, belonging to the premises, the near mountains and the suburbs of Ronda, the dream city of Rilke, mentioned by so many romantic travellers in their verses and reflected in paintings of great beauty.
Furnished with exquisite taste and selected antics of family heritage it will spoil you with its cosy and relaxing ambiance. You will be pampered and perfectly taken care of in a professional yet very personal way.
The local and ancient kitchen, on which all recipes of our chef are based, is redefined in a creative way, spoiling and delighting all senses, while dining in our restaurant.
Our two pools and 10.000 square metres of Hispano – Arabic garden with its water ways and fountains are ideal for a complete repose.
With its peace and tranquillity Hotel Molino del Arco is the ideal place to spend a few days of vacation and rest in the heart of Andalusia, only 10 minutes from the gorgeous and old city of Ronda, surrounded by history, tradition and a lot of stories and anecdotes to tell you about the building, the family who owns it (and who came to Ronda in the 15th century with the Catholic Kings during the reconquest of the city from the Moors), the surroundings, the city, customs and traditions the owners will be happy to tell you.

Ronda is still the unknown Andalusian city, not touched yet by the typical round trips and therefore not so massified and touristic than other monumental towns in Andalusia. It maintained its rural character and the air of a little village where everybody simply knows everybody. It becomes really romantic and beautiful in the evening, when the tourist busses left and Ronda belongs again to its inhabitants and visitors like you, who are interested in the real essence of a city. In addition to its famous gorge that divides the city in two and is more than 100 metres deep, it is worthwhile visiting the bullring of the Real Arsenal of Cavalry of Ronda ( the oldest in Spain where bullfights still take place), the ´Colegiata´of Santa Maria the Great, the Palace of Mondragón, the Palace of Salvatierra, the Arab Baths or to simply lose yourself amongst its alleys of enchantment. In the surroundings you might admire the important Roman Ruins of Acinipo, the Ronda of Roman times, the cave "Cueva de la Pileta" with prehistoric paintings, the natural parks of "Sierra de las Nieves" and "Grazalema" with their forests of so called "Pinsapos", conifers which are living fossils, still surviving from prehistoric times and worldwide unique. An excursion through the famous "pueblos blancos", the white washed mountain villages will be another unforgettable experience.
The more adventurous travellers will find a lot of possibilities to practice any kind of sport, from very extreme ones to the more relaxed versions, everybody will be able to manage. |
| Route Description: |
How to find us:
From Malaga airport there are several possibilities to come to Ronda.
1.
Leaving the airport follow the signs to "Algeciras / Cádiz" on to the highway A 7. After about 25 kms it will split up in the speed road A 7 (free of charge) which takes you along the coast line and passes several towns like Marbella (although you don't see a lot of it) - and the highway AP 7 on which you have to pay two times fee. Calculate about 10,00€. AP 7 has the advantage that you have much less traffic.
On the A 7/ N340 you will come to the town San Pedro de Alcántara, where you will see to your right a sign, indicating the direction to Ronda.
On the AP 7 please watch out for the corresponding exit.
The road to Ronda is in both cases the same and is quite curvy and slow, without any possibility to pass slower cars you might have in front. Please calculate one hour only for these last 60 kms from the coast to Ronda. Shortly before reaching Ronda you will come to a roundabout, indicating Ronda to your left and "Circunvalación" slightly to your right. Follow the sign "Circunvalación".
2.
You might as well leave the airport and take the direction Málaga, passing over a bridge and incorporating your car into a speed road. Shortly after you will find the indications direction "Almería / Motril". Please follow the signs, which will bring you on the city highway A 7 / N340. Take the exit "Campillos / Universidad / Parque Technologico / Palacio de Ferias" which guides you on another highway No. A 357. After about 30 kms it will become a normal road. Stay on it until you pass to your left the village "Ardales". About two kilometres further you will see a sign, indicating to your left "Teba / Ronda por carretera secundaria". Please turn left here. The following 6 kms are quite curvy, but this road brings you directly on to road No. A 367 to Ronda. Coming to the T-end turn left and stay on this road until you arrive in Ronda.
This way is shorter and faster, as you have less traffic and the roads are very well built, with a lot of possibilities to pass cars. Personally I prefer this way, as the drive is more relaxed than on the other road and the landscapes you are passing are beautiful. You will drive through the typical hills of the "Serranía de Ronda", the mountaineous region around Ronda. The views are changing all few kilometres, from orange plantations to narrow valleys and up to soft and wide open hills, crowned by the rocks of the surrounding mountain ranges.
It doesn't matter from where you finally reach Ronda, you will always come to a huge roundabout, where traffic is as well organized by traffic lights. Take here direction "Sevilla". Please don’t get confused – the number of this road changed in October 2005. Former times it was road No. A 376 and will be indicated like this still in most maps. However, the signs on the road will show you the identification No. A 374. Once on this road, pass another entrance to Ronda and stay on it, looking for km. 28. You will see a big yellow and green sign from the Andalusian Government, informing you that you are on the road Ronda-Sevilla A 374.
Directly after this sign and in the curve turn right into the only small road existing. From here just follow our signs for the next 3 kilometres.
From Seville:
Coming from Seville, please take the road A 374 direction “Utrera”. Please don’t get confused – the number of this road changed in October 2005. Former times it was road No. A 376 and will be indicated like this still in most maps. However, the signs on the road will show you the identification No. A 374.
Stay on this road, bypassing Utrera, El Coronil and Puerto Serrano. Shortly after you will come to a T-cross. Please turn left and follow the road until “Algodonales”. Once passed this village a few kilometres further you will see a sign to your right, indicating "Ronda - A 374". Turn right here and follow it for about 30 kms. You don`t have to go to Ronda to come to us. Please watch out for kilometre 27 on the road. After nearly one kilometre further, with the sign of kilometre 28 in sight and in a curve you will see a little street turning away to your left. Here
you will see our first sign. Turn in left and just follow our signs for the next three kilometres.
Please don't hesitate to phone us (0034 - 952 11 40 17), if you have any problem to find us. We will be glad to help you over the phone. |
