In Las Terrenas you can go horseback riding, scuba diving, snorkelling,
Kite and wind surfing, make catamaran sailing trip or go whale watching (January - March). Or you can visit the El Limon waterfalls, Los Haitises National Park or make a Jeep safaris to the Samanà Peninsula's interior
Las Terrenas, with its European influence is different, relaxed, clean, and looks like a picture postcard Caribbean paradise. The touristic areas are well intergraded in the local setting and culture, and even though the area is developing rapidly, it has remained unspoiled and not lost its intimate feel. There are plenty of shops (from clothing to souvenirs to cigars and wine), many colmados, several supermarkets and discotheques, plus a large variety of bars and restaurants.

How to get to Las Terrenas:
From Puerto Plata:
a. By taxi from the airport (6 pers. Minibus). A 2,5 to 3 hours drive. Costs about 120 US$.
b. By small charter airplane from the airport of your arrival. Flight of about half an hour. Costs about 255 US$ p.plane (3 seats)
From Santo Domingo:
a. By taxi from the airport (6 pers. Minibus). A 4 hours drive. Costs about 165 US$.
b. By small charter airplane from the airport of your arrival. Flight of about half an hour. Costs about 70 US$ p.person (if all the seats are occupied, that is: 3, 6 or 9 seats)
c. By small regular airplane from Herrera and Las Americas in Santo Domingo airport. Costs 70 US$ for an adult, half off for children under 10 years.
Another possibility is to travel by public transport. Caribe Tours and Metro Bus Line maintain a regular bus service over larger distances with modern air-conditioned buses.
