El Almendral - The Almond Grove - lies hidden behind lost hills, nestling like a well-kept secret amongst terraced fields which for centuries were lovingly cultivated by generations of Moors and other heretics.
If you long for an enchanted journey backwards in time then El Almendral, a paradise lost between the mountain and the sea and bathed by the Mediterranean sun, is just right for you.
Situated between Aigües and Relleu and surrounded by pines, almond orchards and palm trees, this is a traditional old farmhouse which we have transformed into a Hotel and Restaurant which is at once enchanting, welcoming, intimate and serene. Here the splendour of the age of princes and princesses has been revived - a time when the almond offered the temptation of an exotic fruit newly wrenched from its origins on Caucasian slopes.
Under the warm light of El Almendral, far from the summer hordes and the uniformity of the city, you will be free to devote your energies to the sin of happiness, to drink deeply of the intoxicating silence and to meander through the perfumed complicity of the Mediterranean gardens. Here both body and soul recover the taste for the most sublime of pleasures: idyllic walks or a refreshing dip in a pool surrounded by beautiful terraced fields.
In El Almendral pleasure is worshipped; it is a divine nectar to be distilled smoothly. The visitor is a devotee on a seductive retreat, where Nature reveals her most subtle charms.
Sloth and gluttony are just two of the seductive temptations you will be unwilling to resist. The only salvation lies in the alchemy of the soil: in the aromatic, medicinal herbs cultivated in the shade of the pine trees and in the natural products skillfully prepared in our kitchen.
The only therapy permitted is the redeeming siesta, the languidness of time, the gourmet cuisine and the absolute comfort awaiting you in your room. Amidst the flowers of El Almendral.
A spectacular swimming pool. This part of the complex is inspired by the descendants of the Moors and their love of water as a source of life, relaxation and pleasure. The 140 m pool measures 20m (22 yards) by 7m (7.8 yards) and has a maximum depth of 2.5m (8 feet). There is also a Jacuzzi for 6 - 8 persons. Our swimming pool is specially worthy of mention in its wonderful enclave amongst the almond trees, looking out over the Sierra de Aitana mountain (1,559m / 5,113 feet), and over the summit of Puig Campana.
Almond trees, tall palms, olive groves, fruit trees (orange, lemon, pomegranate and medlar trees among others) blend seamlessly into an architectural whole, with a fresh, relaxing atmosphere in summer. A large number of aromatic plants complete the garden...
Under the care of an agricultural scientist, 3,000 almond trees turn the irrigated terraces of El Almendral green. This is despite the fact that most farms in the region no longer cultivate this noble tree whose fruit has many beneficial properties. In addition to the many aromatic plants in the garden, we will soon begin cultivation of medicinal plants from Latin America and Asia under the supervision of doctors who specialize in this field.
All around the farm there are many paths which are both romantic and safe. Views of the sea may be appreciated from the hilltops. Benches have been placed so that guests can admire the scenery or enjoy a delicious picnic either before or after a swim in the pool. These walks are ideal for families with children as well as for couples.

The House. A USA-Alicante architectural project. The old farmhouse, an eighteenth century building set atop one of the hills on the farm, has been converted into a small Centre for Rural Tourism with all of the facilities of a large hotel.
American architect Dean B. Lewis has combined the constructivist modernity of Miami (Florida) with classical Valencian lines. The result is a harmonious architectural mix of the rustic and the modern; integrating the different parts of the building in an original way by means of a wonderful ellipse.
Interior designer Tono Lledó of Alicante has interpreted the central motif perfectly, creating an original, innovative architectural challenge that masterfully unites the old with the contemporary. The house seems to open outwards; filled with light, it is at the same time intimate and pleasant. This mixture between tradition and modern comfort culminates in the careful decoration carried out by antique expert Christophe Brulard and several decorators. Modern beds; delicate French and Catalan fabrics; antique furniture imported from France, the United States, Italy, Brazil and Cuba; classical paintings; modern sculptures and paintings (in particular by the famous Cuban painter Bordon who created a series of original works for the house and the rooms);
