The hotel is a building with character which can be noticed from far away due to its high and special shapes. The building dates back from the beginning of the 20th century and was originally designed as a monastery.

De Dikke van Dale - A Hampshire Classic Hotel has recently been renovated. Only the authentic facades are kept in the existing structure and a whole new part has been built in harmony with the existing structure.
The hotel features 64 luxurious rooms including a bridalsuite. All rooms are equipped with TV, safe, mini-bar and bathroom with bath, toilet and hairdryer. The rooms at the front side overlook the spacious terrace and the rooms at the backside have a beautiful view at the picturesque surroundings. De Dikke van Dale – A Hampshire Classic Hotel, a 4 star property, is situated in Sluis, a historical city. The name of the hotel is derived from the Dutch compiler of “De Dikke van Dale” dictionary; J. H. van Dale who was born in this city.
Sluis is located in the beautiful Zeeuws-Flemish scenery and nearby the Belgian cities such as Brugge, Gent and Knokke, the perfect place for a day trip.
Moreover, Sluis is an old historical city this can be seen by the old city gates, from here the gate guards kept an eye on the enemy, and the classical Belfort tower (1375). This tower reflects the richness and the power of Sluis and is the only one in The Netherlands. From this tower, you will have a magnificent view of the city and the environment.
The city centre is situated within the city walls. There is a wide variety of shops, cafés and restaurants, which sparkle the city and give the city a Burgundian character. A historic walk between the 14th century city walls belongs to one of the possibilities that Sluis has to offer. This tour will lead you to different museums such as the agriculture museum, the mill and the city hall.
Apart from that, you can enjoy a beautiful cycle tour in this natural environment. This tour will lead through dunes, the Dutch Botanical Black Polder and the bird’s hatch places and the nature area ‘The Zwin’.
The casino is situated in the hotel. This casino offers a wide variety of games, such as the roulettes, bingo and horse races. Moreover, the famous fruit automates are represented too. Certainly, a profitable night.
Our stylish and luxurious à-la-carte restaurant offers our guests a high level cuisine. Our chef has prepared a lovely range of local fresh fish dishes from the Oosterschelde such as oysters, lobster and a lot more tasty seafood. Besides that, a wide choice of delicious meat dished will be on our menu.
Our cosy Bar-Bistro has a limited menu offering a fine selection of food with a Mediteranean touch. It is pleasant and totally relaxing spending time in front of our open fire … can we suggest a Belgian beer to go along with that?

The hotel features 3 meeting rooms with a maximum capacity of 300 persons. The hotel lounge is directly connected with our meeting rooms. The lounge can be used as an extra room for receptions, coffee breaks or any other needs. Moreover, modern facilities such as: flip charts, overhead projectors, projection screens, beamers and whiteboards are available on request.
When the weather is nice there is also a possibility to arrange your event outside.
